It’s the holiday season! Marunouchi’s “Harry Potter” themed winter lights

The winter lights around Tokyo Station called “Marunouchi Illumination” are back this season to light up the city with its gentle lights. The overall theme is “Harry Potter – A Gift from the Wizarding World”. Stroll along Marunouchi-Naka-Dori Street and Tokyo Station while visiting each of the special sites with magical Christmas trees and ornaments inspired by “Harry Potter” and “The Fantastic Beasts”! And for everyone who can’t make it or wants to catch a glimpse of the atmosphere, please watch our video “Marunouchi Illuminations 2021”!

This year again, more than 340 trees around Marunouchi-Naka-Dori Street, which extends from Yurakucho Station to Otemachi Station, are colored in classic champagne gold. About 1.2 million LED lights turn the whole area into a dreamy world of lights.

The LEDs use green power generated by solar and wind energy.

Below, you find a list of all four “Harry Potter” themed trees around the area.

Tree of Hogwarts Magic

Time: 6:00 – 24:00 Place: Marunouchi Building 1F MARUCUBE (2-4-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)

Don’t miss the show with 3D holograms and powerful music! To capture beautiful photos or make a video of the show, you need the right setting. Please refer to the information boards at the site and you will be golden!

Tree of Owl Post

Time: 15:00 – 24:00 TOKYO TORCH Park (2-6-4 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)

This is the biggest “illumination” tree in Toky. It’s about 30 meters high! The tree is installed at TOKYO TORCH Park in front of the commercial facility TOKYO TORCH Terrace, which opened its doors in September 2021.

Tree of Fantastic Beasts

Time: 6:00 – 23:00 Place: Marunouchi OAZO (1-6-4 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)

The picture book-shaped white Christmas tree hides magical creatures from the movie “Fantastic Beasts” series. So cute! There is also a bench (looking like a big book) in front of the tree where you can sit down and take pictures.

Tree of Hogwarts Letters

Time: 15:00 – 24:00 Place: Marunouchi BRICK SQUARE (2-6-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)

The tree at Marunouchi BRICK SQUARE facing the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum is special. Its theme is the 20th-anniversary of the movie “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. The owl on the top of the tree, inspired by the symbolic letters in the movie, is super cute!
