Hibiya Park Bon Dance Festival

“Bon Odori” is a dance where people dance to the rhythm of Japanese drums slowly around a stage (or tower) with a live band or professional dancers on it. However, at the “Hibiya Park Bon Dance Festival”, everybody dances around a big, colorfully lighted up fountain. That’s beautiful – and refreshing!

“Bon Odori” is not difficult at all. By imitating the movements of the experienced people around you, you’ll get the hang of each dance in no time! Bon Odori dances are very charming and popular among every age group.
During the event, residents, office workers on the way home from work, students and tourists gather at Hibiya Park and dance together. Everyone is welcome! Also, there are many fashionable people wearing yukata (= a summer kimono). It’s a very colorful and relaxing festival – great for the whole family.
