From the best retro games to the latest releases, Akihabara is a gamer’s heaven!

Akihabara is Tokyo’s electric epicenter that has always attracted radio and computer fans in the past. Recently, an increased number of anime figure shops and maid cafes turned Akihabara into a gamer’s and anime fan’s sanctuary. In this article, we will introduce an irresistible game shop where you can buy everything from nostalgic titles to the latest games. They even have a retro game center!

Travel back in time!

At the entrance of “Super Potato Akihabara”

If you want to travel back in time, you have to visit “Super Potato Akihabara”! This store is divided into three floors. The third and fourth floors sell domestic as well as foreign video games from all decades and for all game consoles.

The store is located inside an old building (no English descriptions, but you’ll find your way!)

The store’s homepage declares the shop as the “No.1 in retro game inventory in Japan!”. It’s true. Here you’ll find all the video games and consoles that were popular in your childhood! For example, when I was a child, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, and Dreamcast were extremely popular.

Remember the good old N64 times…
“Old” doesn’t always mean “cheap”. These games are rare collector’s items

But even if you remember the old “Game & Watch” times – you’ll find one here! No need to mention the latest games for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. These games are also available.

Where adults become children

On the 5th floor of the building, you’ll find a true Japanese game center with a lot of retro arcade games. At the sight of the arcade games, my heart started beating faster. This is just heaven!!

Look at this row of arcade games!

The great thing about retro games is that you don’t need any instructions. Get some coins ready and start playing. Also, many games can be played by two people, starting from 100 yen per play, so bring your friends and family!

There is also a candy shop, where you can buy Japanese low-priced retro candy called “dagashi”. I’m sure there are some sweets you’ve never tasted before, so please try it!

For those who love games, especially those who want to play or buy nostalgic titles, Akihabara’s “Super Potato” is a gamer’s heaven where you can spend several hours browsing and playing games.

It’s SUPER (Mario)!
