Enjoy Healthy Japanese Set Meals to Reset Your Mind and Body!

Oden with chicken wings and seasonal vegetables

There are many restaurants in Tokyo that serve healthy and delicious Japanese set menus, known as “wa-teishoku.” Sangmi is a hidden gem of a teishoku (set meal) restaurant in Otemachi, Tokyo. As editor-in-chief, I had the chance to try their exquisite treats made with organic vegetables, enzyme dressing, and a twist!

Sangmi: A Hidden Restaurant in the Big City

The restaurant is located in the underground mall near Otemachi Station.

If you’re ever in the vicinity of Tokyo or Otemachi Stations, stop by my recommended restaurant, Sangmi, and enjoy a delicious set meal! Currently, there are mainly Japanese guests, making it a great place to dine with the locals.

The restaurant interior is cozy with natural tones.

To a foreigner, especially a European like myself, Japanese teishoku looks like a work of art. Various sizes and shapes of dishes, each containing the main dish, rice, miso soup, pickles, and other side dishes, are all part of a single work of art. Eating a meal of different flavors served on beautiful Japanese tableware is truly a delightful experience for both the eyes and the palate. The set menus are also not too highly priced, which is nice.

“Sangmi” offers a set meal that changes daily. Today’s menu can also be checked in advance on the website.

Experience Japanese Set Menus!

Sangmi has a strong commitment to all the ingredients used in its set menus. The rice is made from healthy brown rice and topped with sesame and salt, a perfect combination with rice. They choose seasonal vegetables and use mineral-rich unrefined sugar and purified water for their dishes.

When you hear that the ingredients have been so carefully selected and particular about their quality, you will taste the food with even more awareness of the different flavors. For example, the richness of the egg yolk, the natural sweetness of the vegetables, and the elasticity of the rice grains make for a wonderful dining experience.

One of the highlights of the set meals at Sangmi is their specialty dressing. The original enzyme (kōso) dressing has won first place in Japan for three consecutive years in the “National Gourmet Online Ordering Grand Prix.” More than 60% of the dressing is made from raw organic onions and vegetables, with no chemical seasonings or other additives. It pairs perfectly with the salad and vegetables that come with the set menus. The flavors burst in your mouth with every bite!

The dressing comes in a variety of flavors and can be purchased in the restaurant.

For an additional charge, you can also enjoy drinks and healthy desserts at this restaurant.

If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese set meal in Tokyo, be sure to visit Sangmi. Every aspect of the meal is thoughtfully and skillfully presented, from the attention to ingredients to the award-winning dressings.

I bought myself some beet dressing and granola as souvenirs.
