Summer Gourmet Walk (Marunouchi & Yurakucho)

Cheers with my friend after work!

In this article, we introduce the hottest gourmet spots in Marunouchi & Yurakucho, two of Tokyo’s most urban areas.

The Marunouchi area in front of Tokyo Station has long been developed as an office district, but recently it has also become an area with a variety of shopping and dining facilities. First, let’s have lunch at the much-talked-about Hawaiian restaurant that opened in the Shin-Marunouchi Building!

KOKO HEAD CAFE TOKYO, a Hawaiian restaurant overlooking Tokyo Station

KOKO HEAD CAFE in Honolulu, Hawaii, is famous for its Hawaiian food with an Asian taste, and locals and tourists alike are always waiting in line from morning. The restaurant has now opened in front of Tokyo Station!

KOKO HEAD CAFE TOKYO has terrace seating as well as inside seating. It’s the perfect spot to take in the view of Marunouchi’s skyscrapers and Tokyo Station’s red-brick train station building.

Enjoy the spectacular view of Tokyo Station with a cocktail in one hand!

The recommended dish is the Koko Moco. With a 100% Japanese beef patty, gravy, kimchi tempura, and a fried egg topping, it is an original dish with Asian and American touches.

For dessert, I ordered the Cornflake French Toast. The toast was topped with a crunchy cornflake batter, soft toast inside, special gelato, and crispy bacon! You will be enchanted by the texture for the first time!

Window Shopping on Marunouchi-Naka-Dori-Street

Marunouchi-Naka-Dori-Street is a shopping street lined with high-end brand stores. While window shopping, you can also enjoy the street art.

The long, straight avenue is lined on both sides with cooling trees, and street artwork has been installed all along the street. A stroll down the avenue will take you to the Yurakucho area before you know it.

The 43rd Marunouchi Street Gallery lineup

If you visit this summer, be sure to experience Marunouchi Street Park! There are tables for free use, kitchen cars, a street piano, a “rugby” themed picnic area, and more. Also, from August 19 to September 21, “Marunouchi Street Music” will be held, featuring performances by street musicians.

Experience a beer garden in the sky! Ginza Sky Beer Terrace

Ginza Sky Beer Terrace is open in summer only on the 13th floor of the Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan in front of Yurakucho Station. Take the Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan elevator to the Ginza Sky Beer Terrace floor and get off at the terrace, which is illuminated by garland lights and offers a superb night view 40 meters above the ground.

Tokyo Station is on the northern side of the beer terrace.

Not only beer but also wine and soft drinks are all-you-can-drink. Above all, I, Marei, the editor-in-chief, recommend “Tokyo Kaikan’s” proud homemade cuisine! The food menu is supervised by Tokyo Kaikan, which is known for its many excellent restaurants.

What I liked about Ginza Sky Beer Terrace was its location overlooking Tokyo Station and other night views of the city center, and the comfortable music that attracts nearby office workers and couples, creating a relaxed atmosphere for adults. It was truly the perfect place to enjoy a summer evening.
