Since the 3rd hamburger boom took Tokyo by storm about 5 years ago, a lot of new exciting gourmet hamburger restaurants opened throughout the city. These restaurants are not only cute-looking but also very particular about the ingredients they use for their hamburgers. In this article, we introduce three authentic delicious gourmet hamburger restaurants in Tokyo!
Try a Japanese wagyu beef burger from Toyama prefecture
“SHOGUN BURGER” has its roots in a yakiniku (BBQ) restaurant in Toyama Prefecture. Not only the restaurant’s name but also their burgers make an impact! Their juicy and ultra-coarsely ground 100% Japanese wagyu beef patties get grilled on the spot without being frozen to keep all the flavors. Even their original buns are homemade. A professional baker bakes them every morning inside the restaurant kitchen. The result is an outstanding hamburger you HAVE to try!
“SHOGUN BURGER” offers a wide variety of burgers such as vegetarian burgers, steak burgers, and even teriyaki foie gras burgers! Or create your very own burger by customizing your hamburger with different toppings. Takeaways are also available.

Authentic hamburgers even former President Trump ate in Japan
Located in the office district Kioicho, “THE BURGER SHOP” always had a lot of fans but became really famous when President Trump was served one of their burgers during his visit to Japan.
Even though I purposely avoided lunchtime for my visit, there was a constant coming and going of customers. Interestingly, most of them were female customers.
Besides being seemingly popular, one special feature that makes this restaurant stand out is its all-you-can-drink homemade vegetable juice (Weekdays only). How nice! This will reduce everyone’s guilty feeling when eating a voluminous hamburger.
The restaurant offers a wide variety of hamburgers. By the way, it is said that former President Trump had the super-large “The Steak House Burger”.
The hamburgers are served open style. Just put as many vegetables, pickles, and mayonnaise on the buns to create your burger. Then, put everything in a hamburger bag. Enjoy your meal!
The fluffy buns and juicy patties are excellent! The balance of their patty, buns and ingredients is exquisite. When the gravy soaks into the buns, and you bite into the burger, the umami flavors will spread in your mouth. Finger-licking good!

A match made in heaven: Hamburgers and Shakes!
“BURGER & MILK SHAKE CRANE” which is located near “Arts Chiyoda 3331” is super pink and super cute.
I had an egg burger that was recommended by the restaurant staff. The eggs they use are from a farm in Saitama prefecture which is known for its delicious eggs. When you bite into the burger, the egg yolk spreads into your mouth – so yummy!
When visiting “BURGER & MILKSHAKE CRANE”, be sure to order a shake. The rich milkshake topped with colorful sprinkles goes well with their hamburgers and is also a real treat!
