Marunouchi Illumination 2022

About 1.2 million champagne gold LED lights light up over 340 trees lining Marunouchi Naka-Dori Street, the main street that stretches about 1.2 km from Yurakucho Station to Otemachi Station.

All of the electricity used for powering the Marunouchi winter lights is green energy generated from renewable energy such as solar and wind power. “Marunouchi Illumination” has been certified as a “Japan Night View Heritage” because of this initiative. These are the most eco-friendly winter lights in Tokyo!
In addition to Marunouchi Naka-Dori Street, the large-scale outdoor plaza “TOKYO TORCH Park” in front of Tokiwabashi Tower, which opened in July 2021, will also light up at the same time.
Marunouchi Street Gallery

When visiting “Marunouchi Illumination 2022”, we would like you to also pay attention to “Marunouchi Street Gallery” because Marunouchi Naka-Dori Street is an art gallery! Since 1972, the Chokoku-no-Mori Art and Culture Foundation, which operates the “Hakone Open-Air Museum”, has cooperated in exhibiting public artworks by contemporary artists.

This year, for the first time in four years, new works have been installed, and some of the works have just been replaced. Even people who have been to Marunouchi Street Gallery before will be able to see new works!

At the Marunouchi Street Gallery, you can come across interesting, cute, and exciting works one after another just by walking along Marunouchi Naka-Dori Street. Have a look at carefully selected works by contemporary artists from inside and outside Japan!

Have fun with the artworks illuminated by the winter lights!
