Whether halal, vegetarian or organic, popular Sakura Cafe Jimbocho has it!

“Sakura Hotel Jimbocho” located in the Jimbocho area features very reasonable accommodations – mostly to foreign visitors. This fact and the very welcoming staff are some of the reasons the hotel is ranked first in Japan on Trip Advisor in the category “Traveler’s Choice 2019”!

This is the entrance of Sakura Cafe Jimbocho.

A unique cafe with an international atmosphere

The first thing that comes into sight is the fridge near the entrance of the cafe space. It was filled with international beers from all over the world! And that’s not all. Take a look at the cafe menu and you will be surprised. Dishes from all regions of the world, maybe even from your country!

Guests in this cafe come from over 100 countries around the world. Besides, runners using the lockers and shower service as well as local businessmen have their cup of coffee here.

Curious about the most popular menu, I asked the staff and was told, that curry with grilled cheese on top is the number one. Other than that, the gluten-free pancakes, vegetarian dishes, and even halal dishes for Muslims are very popular among guests, too.

This Kebab bowl is halal. You can choose between chicken and beef.

Blue eggs?

I decided to go with the “porridge & pickles set”. The rice porridge was exactly as the menu name has stated: it was a “Five Star Porridge”! Wow!! Such a soft and pleasing taste. If you have the chance, please try it!

For dessert, I had pudding made of mysterious blue eggs. For the pudding, only blue (!) eggs, milk, and honey are used. The result had something like a blue halo. Or was that just the result of my imagination? Anyway, the pudding was superb!

Does the pudding have a blue halo??

What impressed me at Sakura Cafe Jimbocho was the friendly international atmosphere with Japanese guests and travelers, as well as the very welcoming staff of the hotel and cafe.
If you are strolling around the book town Jimbocho, don’t forget to drop by!
